Day 1: Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

After breakfast, transfer from Arusha to Marangu Gate on the southeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, climbers complete park registration and begin the trek.

The trail passes through dense tropical rainforest, known for its rich vegetation, towering trees, and vibrant birdlife. Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and other forest species.

After a steady ascent, you will arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will spend the night. In the afternoon, a short acclimatization walk leads to Maundi Crater, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and, on clear days, the plains stretching toward Kenya.

Upon arrival, you will rest, enjoy an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt to the highest point in Africa.

Around midnight, you will begin the final summit ascent from Kibo Hut on Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb takes place in darkness, guided by headlamps as you steadily ascend steep volcanic slopes toward the crater rim.

After several hours of trekking, you will reach Gillman's Point (5,681 m), located on the edge of the Kibo crater. From here, the trail continues along the rim toward the highest point in Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).

Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable moment, with breathtaking views above the clouds and across the glaciers of Kilimanjaro. After celebrating, taking photos, and enjoying the achievement, you will begin the descent.

Return to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch before continuing down through the alpine desert and moorland zones to Horombo Hut, where you will spend the night.
