Using a walk-high, sleep-low strategy and supported by experienced mountain crews, this route offers strong summit success rates and unforgettable landscapes. The trek culminates at Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, before descending through pristine rainforest to Mweka Gate.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Machame Gate – Machame Camp

Destination: Mount Kilimanjaro

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Machame Gate, located on the southern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, climbers complete park registration and trekking formalities before beginning the climb.

The trail leads through dense tropical rainforest, characterized by towering trees, thick moss, and rich vegetation. Along the way, you may spot colorful bird species and occasionally monkeys moving through the forest canopy.

After a steady hike through this lush environment, you will arrive at Machame Camp in the late afternoon, where dinner will be served and you will spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the mountain forest.

Arrive at Shira 2 Camp, set in an expansive plateau offering breathtaking views of Kibo Peak. Dinner and overnight stay at camp allow for rest and acclimatization before the next day’s ascent.

From Stella Point, continue the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa, for breathtaking sunrise views, celebrations, and photos.

After the summit experience, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for rest and lunch. Continue descending through the alpine desert, moorland, and rainforest zones to Mweka Camp, where you will spend the night surrounded by lush forest and the sounds of the mountain.
